Welcome to the Scituate Middle School Student Council Web Page.

This year at Scituate Middle School (SMS) has been an exciting year! Academics, sports, clubs and other extracurricular activities have kept all of us very busy. The SMS Student Council will be hosting numerous social and community based events for you to participate in. or the third consecutive year, SMS has participated in the Pennies for Patients Program to raise money for research to help fight Leukemia and Lymphoma.

Children and their families here in Rhode Island benefit from this program. Some of the money is used to help offset medical bills. The students were really excited about helping sick children in Rhode Island. This year we set out to raise $5,001 and have currently raised $4,557.49 and still have some boxes left to count! We are hoping to reach our goal this year!

I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND MY GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION TO THE SCITUATE COMMUNITY FOR THEIR GENEROUS SUPPORT! Last year we were one of the top five fundraising schools in Rhode Island. Let’s see if we can do it again.

Spring 2010

Participants are - Tayla Hall – Senior at Scituate

The band Monty Are I performed for the middle school students in June 2009 to thank them for their outstanding fundraising efforts. One of the band members battled blood cancer when he was in high school. He is a survivor and has a personal connection with this disease which is why they graciously perform for the top fundraising school in Rhode Island.

Everyone really enjoyed the show.

If you are interested in being a part of the SMS Student Council, please attend a meeting! Student Council is a great way to get involved with your school and local community and make new friends.

Many of the events that you volunteer for will contribute to your Jr. National Honor Society community service hours. All SMS students are welcome to participate. Meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of the month in E4.

THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE WEDNESDAY, May 5, 2010 RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL IN ROOM E4.
